Blackhorse Lane Reinterprets Vintage US Army Trousers in Natural Indigo

Perhaps an ode to the daily conversations between Winston Churchill and Franklin D. Roosevelt during WWII, London’s Blackhorse Lane continues to play off their strengths with their latest denim-based creation — a contemporary British take on the classic US military trouser from the ’40s.

That’s right, the SW1 Trouser isn’t your standard 5P jean design, so you’ll need to wrap your head (and hips) around a bit more tailoring trickery than you’re used to. And while they might not look like true high-waisted design based on the images above, they most certainly are, and the fishtail waistband will rest above your hips. Roomy thighs extends down through the leg to a healthy leg opening. The 12oz. natural indigo sanforized raw denim is woven in Turkey by Orta Mills and, let’s face it, it’s likely the reason you’re still reading at this point.

A bulletpoint worth pointing out on that front: this first run is the lone batch to use this particularly handsome-yet-scant denim. All other batches moving forward will be made from other fabrics, so if you dig that luscious blue, you gotta hop to it.

$264 or so at Blackhorse Lane Ateliers.
