Danner’s 917 Series is Full Grain and All-Weather

Known for getting avid hikers and climbers through tough terrain, Danner has been in the boot business since 1932. They’ve kept feet nimble with their hallmark Mountain Light boots, and wicked water away when they introduced a GORE-TEX lining in 1979.

And now, they’re introducing their 917 Series. Made for everyday city wear, the collection is a modern evolution of Danner’s classic hiking boots. Along with an overall sleeker look, they’ve updated the soles with an exclusive-to-Danner Vibram 917 outsole. Attached to that exclusive outsole, they use what’s called an XS Trek rubber compound that gives it extreme durability and high traction.

Both the Feather Light 917 and the Vertigo 917 models still use Danner’s top-notch stitchdown construction. But, you might notice, it’s cleverly hidden with a cup sole. The cup sole gets rid of extra weight, while the Ortholite footbed and nylon shank keep your feet stable.

Aside from the modern improvements, the 917 Series doesn’t mess around with the tried and true elements of their boot formula. Full-grain leather uppers are lined with waterproof GORE-TEX, so, like the originals, they’ll keep your feet ahead of whatever weather’s afoot.

You can find the Vertigo for $220 and the Feather Light for $240, both at Danner.com
