We’ve featured Japan’s first major denim brand, BIG JOHN, a number of times before for both their own mainline products and their multiple collaborations with other brands. Building on the momentum formed by collaborating with not only denim brands like Naked & Famous, but also with creators like Japanese artist and illustrator Rockin’ Jelly Bean, BIG JOHN is coming out with a follow-up collaboration with the eccentric Japanese artist.
The previous release’s theme featured 50’s pin-up girls on the leather patch using Rockin’ Jelly Bean‘s artwork. This time around, the theme is “Made in Rock ‘n’ Roll” (as noted on the back patch) and has been inspired by California surfer rock from the tag artwork to the blue and white stripe bowtie that comes included.
The jeans are made from a 14 oz. light blue coloured selvedge denim that is achieved by dipping the fabric in a lower-concentrated indigo dye. Keeping true to BIG JOHN‘s roots, the jeans are made in Japan.
